NHL Ramblings 10/31

1.Edmonton has been a surprise so far, they are talented but, can they keep it up and be in it when the season ends in April, I see them ending up in the playoffs but a lower seed.

2.I think the Blues and Blackhawks will be the teams to beat, with Chicago have the experience and the Blues have a good nucleus that will be tough.

3.The Sharks are also very good and I expect another good season from them

4.The Wild have played well and maybe they just needed a coaching change as they are playing some good hockey now

5.The East is lead by the Pens who are loaded, the Capitals who have a good team but, can they get over the hump?

6.The Rangers are better than last year and they also can be a team that can go deep in the playoffs, the new players give them more speed. I enjoy the new offensive style and its a breath of fresh air for Rangers fans.

Hockey Weekend Top Predictions 10/21

1.Coyotes at Islanders 7pm

Preview-Arizona is without their number 1 goalie Mike Smith so they will rely on Louise Dominique to be the main goalie right now, the Islanders have played decent but, lost a few close games and they really need to get some wins before they fall to far back, they have the edge offensively in this game.Arizona will need to slow down the speed of the Isles and make this a physical game.

Prediction- 3-1 Islanders, Arizona is playing a back to back and lost bad 5-2 to Montreal, while the Islanders were off, this game will be an Isles win, close in the score but, Islanders will out play the Coyotes.

2.Blackhawks at Blue Jackets 7pm

Preview- Chicago is starting to play better after a bad start, they have the better offense here and the better team, while the Blue Jackets have been struggling to get anything going, they have the players to score, but, are struggling and are falling fast into a long dull season in Columbus.

Prediction – 4-1 Hawks, Chicago will score early and get the game out of reach by the 3rd.

Quick Pick- Predators at Red Wings 730pm (Prediction 3-1 Wings)

1.Rangers at Capitals 7pm NHL Net.

Preview-This has become a new rivlary in the East, both teams have played some great playoff matchups the last few seasons. This is their 1st meeting of the season, the Rangers have played well so far, and shown more speed and quickness this season, while the Capitals are good as always with Ovechkin and Holtby leading them.

Prediction 3-2 Caps,a late goal gets them the points in a close physical game

2. Canadiens at Bruins 7pm CITY

Preview-This is a rivalry game between 2 hated teams in the East, Montreal has been playing well so far lead by Pacioretty and Shea Weber, and Boston has been good lead by Bergeron and Chara.

Prediction- 2-1 Bruins, this will be a Boston game, physical and gritty and a slow pace which is to their liking.

3. Canucks at Kings 10pm CBC

Preview-The Canucks have played well so far, being 4-0 lead by the Sedins they have been off to a better than expected start, the Kings have struggled without their ace goalie Jonathan Quick, they have not played up to their potential and barely beat Dallas on Thursday and looked bad other wise.

Prediction- 2-1 Canucks, the Canucks win in the game in the last 5 minutes to steal all 3 points in a physical affair.

Quick Picks-

1.Leafs at Blackhawks 7pm CBC (4-1 Hawks), 2.Lightning at Sens 7pm SN360 (3-1 Bolts) and 3. Blues at Flames 10pm SN360 and SN 1 (4-1 Blues)

1.Oilers at Jets 3pm NHL Net. (Heritage classic outdoors in Winnipeg)

Preview-The Oilers have played well so far, they have shown that maybe they can sneak into the playoffs, the talent is there and they are fun to watch. Winnipeg is a team that always plays hard and is never an easy team to beat. The game outdoors are always a spectacle and fun to watch.

Prediction- 3-1 Oilers, there are never many goals in these games and I expect an empty netter for the 3rd goal.

Quick Picks-

1.Coyotes at Rangers 7pm NHL Net. (4-2 Rangers) and 2. Canucks at Ducks 8pm SN (3-1 Ducks)

NHL Thoughts 10/19

1.Right now Tampa and Washington are the top teams in the East as expected with the Pens, Rangers and Montreal right there

2.The Islanders have not gotten off to the start they wanted, barely winning their home opener then losing to the Sharks after losing to the Capitals and the Rangers

3.The Rangers are fun to watch, they have alot more speed and their 2 loses were close 3-2 to the Blues and 2-1 to the Red Wings

4.Toronto will be fun to watch with their young talent, they might not be at a playoff level yet, but, they have shown signs of being fun to watch.

5.I feel the East will have 5 teams in the mix for the cup (Pens Caps, Bolts, Rangers and Habs)

1.St. Louis has been a nice surprise so far, without Brian Elliott in goal, Jake Allen has done just fine

2.The Canucks are also 3-0 and their defense has been good so far

3.Minnesota has shown signs of playing well winning over the Jets and Kings

4.While on the other end the Kings are 0-3 and their goaltending is not good right now, they need Jeff Zatkoff or Peter Budaj to step up until Jonathan Quick returns and that could be until January

5.The best teams are 3 right now (Blues, Hawks and Sharks)
